“Even before giving birth to Emilia, I had already started shifting gears in my work life. I had it all planned out. I would accept a lot of work before giving birth — which I did, including a bridal show I just finished last week and a lot of fittings that clients insisted on doing with me present. I also thought that I wouldn’t really have to take a leave from work up until the very last day. I said yes to every opportunity that came my way during my pregnancy because in my mind I thought, OK, I’ll give birth and then I’ll leave next day, thinking I’d do natural. But things don’t always go according to plan.”
